TitleLearner Strategy: Questions for Novice Japanese Learners
Body

From https://manga-sensei.com

Andrew D. Cohen defines language learner strategies as "[t]houghts and actions, consciously chosen and operationalized by language learners, to assist them in carrying out a multiplicity of tasks from the very onset of learning to the most advanced levels of target-language performance" (see his full Topic of the Week article here: http://caslsintercom.uoregon.edu/content/17761). One key set of learner strategies that are critical to novices are those that enable them to get the most out of interactions with proficient speakers. Here are three key phrases that can help a novice both with his/her own confidence and to get the most out of an interaction:

"How would you say it?"
"I'm sorry, would you mind writing that down for me?"
"Could I ask you a question?"
