Learning to write an online review can be helpful and meaningful for learners utilizing resources in the target country.

Objective: To analyze and produce an appropriate review for a restaurant, movie, or product.

Resources: Writing a Review resource sheet

Procedure:

  1. Pre-writing: Work with learners to highlight key features of an online review. They should investigate models online and compare features of different types of reviews.
  2. Writing: Have learners select one restaurant, movie, or product to review and write a review with the characteristics they identified in the pre-writing phase.
  3. Peer Review: Have learners work in pairs to give feedback on their partner's review. Emphasis should be placed on content and organization and not micro-level grammar points.
  4. Revise: Learners revise review based on peer and expert feedback.
  5. Post-writing: Have learners share their reviews and select the best restaurant, movie, and product from the reviews.
