| Title | TESOL Virtual Seminar: Improving English-Medium Instruction on EFL University Campuses |
| Body | From http://www.tesol.org/s_tesol/sec_document.asp?CID=1426&DID=12599 Improving English-Medium Instruction on EFL University Campuses, from the Bottom-Up & the Top-Down Joyce Kling and Kara Mac Donald Thursday, October 1, 2009, 9:00 am – 10:30 am Eastern Daylight Time The number of English-medium instruction (EMI) courses taught at universities in EFL contexts has risen dramatically over the past decade. Investigation as to best practice and the effects of EMI has followed suit. While many are working to build a basis for integrating content and language in EFL higher education, most programs at non–traditionally English speaking universities are conducted parallel to their national language-medium courses as equal and equivalent options for students from all over the world. The presenters discuss their experience regarding EFL universities’ reaction to language policies and preparedness in terms of quality assurances and training of content lecturers.
