Tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Norwegian, beginning September 2010. Teaching load of 6 courses per year may include Norwegian language courses at all levels, Norwegian literature or area studies courses (in Norwegian or in English translation), occasional opportunities to teach a specialized course or to teach in other department or interdisciplinary programs. Faculty members are expected to participate fully in department and college activities and to demonstrate professional excellence through significant and regular scholarly activity.

Ph.D. in Scandinavian Languages and Literature or Area Studies preferred. Native or near-native competence in Norwegian (Bokmål), demonstrated superior teaching skills and scholarly promise required.
