The SIOP Institute: RTI for English Learners Institute
From: The SIOP Institute (customercare@pearsonpd.com)

The Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) Model is a proven, evidence-based framework for improving the academic achievement of English learners (ELs). Since 1995, educators have turned to the SIOP authors for a validated model of sheltered instruction. In a new Response to Intervention (RTI) institute, the original SIOP® Model authors help educators understand how the SIOP Model and other proven instructional practices can enhance interventions for English learners.

The RTI Institute is developed and delivered by original SIOP authors:

* Jana EchevarrĂa, Ph.D., Professor of Special Education, California State University, Long Beach
* MaryEllen Vogt, Ed.D., Professor Emerita, California State University, Long Beach

An Intervention Model for English Learners
The RTI for English learners Institute helps educators:

* Understand a multi-tiered model of intervention
* Identify factors that affect the academic performance and language proficiency of English learners
* Learn ways to use the SIOP Model for providing effective instruction for English learners in mainstream classrooms
* Identify specific Tier 2 interventions that are appropriate for English learners
* Discuss Tier 3 interventions and instruction for English learners with diagnosed learning challenges
* Identify critical success factors and barriers to effective RTI implementation

Participants will also review specific case studies of ELs in the RTI process, and have opportunities to develop and refine their RTI plans for ELs.

Space is limited. Locate a SIOP institute at a location near you and reserve your spot today at www.SIOPinstitute.net/register. To register by phone, please call 1.800.348.4474, option 2.
