Body | Summer Institute for the Teaching of Foreign Languages Date: Wednesday – Friday, July 29-31 Time: 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Cost: $575 (includes textbook) Instructor: Heather Hendry, Teaching Fellow, University of Pittsburgh and Spanish Teacher This institute is specifically designed for K-8 foreign language teachers. Presented by an experienced foreign-language teacher, this three-day course focuses on curriculum development and incorporates new methods for communicative language teaching. Participants will design content-based thematic units to enhance their current curricula. In addition, they will engage in hands-on activities, observe demonstration lessons, and explore a variety of instructional strategies to promote students’ skills in interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational communication...
