Body | NCELA is please to announce the publication of the 2nd edition of AccELLerate. AccELLerate is a quarterly newsletter providing articles written by experts on all aspects of K-12 ELL education. Our second issue has an exciting line-up of authors on diverse topics. In this issue: -Dr. Delis Cuéllar discusses the importance of teachers’ cultural responsiveness and the need to for them to provide a welcoming and an inclusive environment for students’ families. -Drs. Charlene Rivera, Lynn Shafer Willner, and Barbara Acosta present information on accommodations for ELLs along with a guide for the refinement of state assessment policies for accommodating ELLs in content assessments. -Dr. Sara Waring provides information from a research study on the impact of teacher training on the English language proficiency achievement of ELLs. -Michelle Abrams presents highlights from the Quality Counts 2009 report published by Education Week. -In addition, the U.S. Department of Education issues new guidance on Title III. -The issue also highlights news from NCELA, questions from the askNCELA inbox, and new resources for the field.
