2009 Theme: Indigenous Languages Across the Generations — Strengthening Families and Communities

SILS invites proposals that contribute to the theme. Topics and strands include but are not limited to:

* Language and family/community well being
* Role of youth and elders in language revitalization
* Community- and school-based models for language revitalization
* Language revitalization in early childhood education
* Indigenous language immersion
* Language planning and policy
* International research and policy initiatives
* Teaching indigenous languages in higher education
* Individual, family, and community stories of indigenous-language revitalization/maintenance

SILS '09 encourages alternative formats and intergenerational presentations, as well as poster sessions, roundtables, individual presentations, panels, performative/interactive sessions, cultural sessions focusing on language, workshops/demonstrations, and film screenings/multimedia presentations.

Proposals will be accepted on a continuing basis through February 28, 2009.
