TitleLos Angeles School District Adopts World Language Resolution
Body
The Los Angeles Board of Education officially adopted a Chinese, Spanish, and other World Languages Resolution. This is a major feat for the second largest school district in the U.S. Currently, high school graduation requires only two years of the study of a language and there are only about 1,000 students learning Chinese. The Resolution states, "all students, regardless of their home language, should be provided with the opportunity to study at least one language, in addition to English, beginning in elementary grades and continuing their study sequence for 6 to 8 years in order to achieve a high level of proficiency."
