| Title | SWCOLT Second Language Education Awards and Language Study Scholarships |
| Body | From http://swcolt.org SWCOLT is seeking nominations for Second Language Education Awards and Language Study Scholarships. The nomination deadline is to January 15, 2009. Award winners must reside in the SWCOLT region. Scholarship winners must be a member of SWCOLT. -The Excellence in Teaching Award recognizes outstanding teachers of Languages Other Than English. One individual may be recognized at each of the following levels: elementary, secondary, and post-secondary. -The Friend of the Profession Award recognizes an individual or organization not directly involved in the teaching of second languages that has made a significant contribution to the profession. -Honorary Lifetime Memberships are awarded to members who have made significant contributions to SWCOLT and to the language teaching profession. Any SWCOLT member can nominate a recipient. -The SWCOLT Scholarship is a professional development opportunity to study abroad for foreign language educators in the elementary, secondary, and post-secondary levels from Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawai’i, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, and Utah. -Each year, the Southwest Conference on Language Teaching names an outstanding educator within our region as SWCOLT Teacher of the Year. This award is intended to elevate the status of our profession at state and regional levels by creating opportunities for recognizing the most accomplished members of our profession.
