TitleUpcoming Teaching about Asia Seminars in Ohio
Body
The National Consortium for Teaching about Asia (NCTA) is an 11-week seminar series that provides teachers in grades 6-12 with the knowledge, resources and expert guidance needed to incorporate or enhance curriculum about East Asia in their classrooms. In Winter 2009, The Ohio State University's East Asian Studies Center is partnering with Denison University and Miami University to sponsor seminars in Granville and Oxford. In addition to the knowledge gained about China, Japan and Korea, participants will receive the following benefits upon completion of program requirements: $500 personal stipend; $200 worth of seminar texts and resources; $300 resource grant to purchase Asia-related textbooks, films, and other supplies for participant's school; option to purchase graduate credit; continuing education unit certificate; and eligibility to participate in future study tours in China, Japan and Korea.

Further information, including a printable brochure and an online application, is available at http://ncta.osu.edu/future_sites.php .

Applications received by Dec. 15, 2008, will receive priority. The NCTA-Ohio Web site also provides a wealth of teaching resources, including abundant lesson plans on East Asian culture, art, history, economics, literature, mathematics, geography, politics and religion.
