TitleCall for Papers: Conference of the Southeastern Association of Teachers of Japanese

The Southeastern Association of Teachers of Japanese (SEATJ) invites submissions for papers to be presented at the 24th annual conference on the campus of Wake Forest University on Saturday, March 21 – Sunday, March 22, 2009. The theme of the conference is the application of theory to practice, and Dr. Junko Mori, Associate Professor of Japanese at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, will give the keynote lecture. This conference aims to gather Japanese teachers to exchange ideas and develop deeper understanding of current research and pedagogy. In addition to the keynote lecture and presentations, there will be roundtable discussions for K-12 teachers and for college-level teachers in order to encourage active discussions and productive networking among participants.

Presenters will be given 40 minutes which includes 10 minutes for a question and answer session. Topics may include but are not limited to Japanese language pedagogy, Japanese linguistics, Japanese culture, Japanese literature, educational technology, and teaching innovations. Please email your submissions to takatay@wfu.edu by January 15, 2009. Include the following information.

1. Name, affiliation, position, and contact information of the presenter
2. Title of the presentation in English or Japanese
3. Abstract (approximately 500 words in English or 700 characters in Japanese)
4. Request for equipment

Notification of acceptance will be sent via email by January 31. Papers will be published on the conference website by May 31, 2009.
