The mission of NCJLT is to support Japanese Language teachers and promote Japanese Language education. The vision of NCJLT is to foster the study of Japanese language and culture at the Pre-K-16 levels via supportive programs. NCJLT Services and Programs * Oshirase Newsletter with national and regional Japanese language field news, upcoming events, special awards, and job postings. * Active promotion of the teaching and learning of Japanese language K-16 in the United States. * Cooperation with our partner organization, the Association of Teachers of Japanese(ATJ) to hold K-16 discussions on national standards, articulation and other current issues. * Support and creation of professional development opportunities for Japanese language teachers. * Administration of the Japanese National Honor Society for secondary students. * A yearly 'Nengajou' contest for students at all levels. * Organization and sponsorship of the NCJLT portion of the yearly ACTFL conference. * Offering of special awards, travel grants and recognition for teachers and learners of Japanese, such as a national teachers' award and a scholarship for students.
