Chris Steingass, academic dean at St. Francis, said he expects Chinese to be one of the school’s “major languages” in the next few years. But local educators report finding qualified Chinese teachers has been an obstacle. “There’s a real shortage of licensed Chinese teachers in Ohio and actually in the country,” said Rosalice Manlove, director of instruction and technology for Ottawa Hills.
