TitleED Releases Comprehensive Migrant Program Guidance
Body
From: NCELA

The U.S. Department of Education (ED) has issued wide-ranging draft
guidance on the Migrant Education Program (MEP) that covers a variety of fiscal and accountability issues related to the program.

MEP provides formula grants to states, which in turn typically disburse the funds to local educational agencies. The program supports state and local efforts to meet the special educational needs of children of migratory agricultural workers. MEP is Title I, Part C of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act as reauthorized by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.

While covering a wide range of issues, the new guidance offers a
particularly in-depth look at fiscal requirements under MEP, offering a comprehensive overview of allowable costs and even delving into such
questions as which equipment may be bought with MEP dollars and how to
dispose of property.
