The National Heritage Language Resource Center invites applicants to participate in a workshop entitled "Connecting Your Classroom to the Heritage Language Community: Tools and Resources," at UCLA on May 16–17, 2008. This workshop, directed by Professor Terrence Wiley (Arizona State University) is aimed at language teachers in community, pre-college, and college programs. It presents ongoing research on language communities in the U.S. and offers approaches for understanding the communities. The workshop also includes demonstrations of community-based curricula as well as hands-on training in data gathering.

The workshop has space for up to 30 participants. Applications are available online and are due by April 1. Decisions on applications will be announced April 15 by e-mail. Registration for accepted applicants is $75.
