The Association of Japanese Language Teachers in Europe (AJE) is pleased to announce call for papers for the 13th Symposium on Japanese Language Education in Europe as below.

Date: 27th (Wed) - 29th (Fri) August 2008
Venue: Troy Culture Centre, Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Turkey

Theme:
Research paper and report or survey on practice related to the fields of Japanese language and Japanese language education. Areas of interest are;

a. Language and Cultural Understanding
b. Teaching Kanji and Vocabulary in non-Kanji areas
c. Teaching Reading
d. Teaching Writing
e. Application of Corpus
f. Supporting Autonomous Learning
g. E-Learning
h. Others

Eligibility:
All applicants must be members of the Association of Japanese Language Teachers in Europe (AJE) or Turkiye Japon Dili Egitimcileri Dernegi.

Working languages:
Japanese or English

Categories of presentation:
Papers should not previously have been presented nor published elsewhere.

1.Presentation: Research paper or practical paper (20 minutes for presentation and 10 minutes for questions and answers, total of 30 minutes)

2.Poster session: (90 minutes posting time. The size of poster should not be more than 3 pages of A3 size paper)

3.Workshop: conducting in Japanese, total of 80 minutes

Submissions:
Please submit your abstract from "Abstract submission" form within this symposium website: http://2008.eaje.eu

Abstract:
An abstract including the following points in no more than 1,000 characters in the case of Japanese, and in the case of English in no more than 500 words. Please do not mention your name or institution in the abstract.

a) What you want to convey (proposal and conclusion)
b) Outline of evidence (empirical data, examples, etc.)
c) Special points (how it contributes to Japanese language education)

Notification of the result:
All proposals shall be subjected to a blind review. The results will be informed by 31st May 2008. N.B.: The successful applicants will be asked to submit abstracts in both Japanese and English for the symposium program by 30 June 2008. The presenters will be asked to contribute to the "Proceedings of the Conference".
