TitleNational Online Early Language Learning Assessment (NOELLA)
Body
The National Online Early Language Learning Assessment (NOELLA) tests children’s learning in Mandarin Chinese, French, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish. Developed by the Center for Applied Second Language Studies (CASLS), NOELLA is designed to measure the language proficiency of students in grades three through six.

With engaging and interactive questions, NOELLA is a Web-based assessment that your students will enjoy. It measures reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.

Janet Glass, ACTFL National Language Teacher of the year, recently highlighted the importance of language testing in the most recent issue of The Language Educator: “NOELLA and the STAMP are laudable pilot efforts at making assessment consistent with standards, accessible by computers, and national.... Greater language competency cannot help but be enhanced by finally having solid assessments that measure it.”

Share in the pilot efforts. Beginning April 2008, CASLS will offer language teachers one last opportunity to try NOELLA free of charge!

Register your classes today at http://noella.uoregon.edu .

By participating in the pilot, you will help shape the final version of NOELLA. CASLS will consider your feedback before finalizing test items to develop a reliable foreign language assessment tool.

Feel free to forward this to your colleagues.

Sincerely,

Na Zhou
