TitleNew Programs to Serve English Learners Approved in California

The Commission on Teacher Credentialing's Committee on Accreditation approved six new university California Teachers of English Learners (CTEL) programs at its January 17 meeting in Ontario, California. These new programs, designed to prepare teachers to teach English language learners, will be available at the following universities:

* California State University (CSU), San Marcos (San Marcos, CA)
* Stanford University (Palo Alto, CA)
* University of Phoenix (statewide, CA)
* National Hispanic University (San Jose, CA)
* Alliant International University (San Diego and Fresno, CA)
* University of California (UC) Riverside, UC San Diego and UC Los Angeles Extension consortium (southern, CA)

These CTEL approved programs offer California's required CLAD certification to veteran and out-of-state teachers.
