The University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) in Spain is holding the First International Conference on English Language Teaching and Learning (ICELTL1) from the 10th to the 13th September 2008.

The First International Conference on English Language Teaching and Learning will bring together ELT teachers, researchers and professionals from all over the world to exchange, discuss and develop their ideas on the general topic of English language teaching and learning. The conference program will offer many opportunities for contact between various professionals, specialists and ELT practitioners. The event will consist in a four-day program with a large number of papers, workshops and panel discussions on a wide range of ELT-related subjects. Paper, workshop and panel discussion proposals are welcome on the following topic areas:
o Teacher training and teacher development (TTD)
o Curriculum and syllabus design and planning (CS)
o The teaching of the four skills (TF)
o The teaching of grammar (TG)
o The teaching of pronunciation (TP)
o Cultural studies and ELT (CSELT)
o The teaching of vocabulary (TV)
o Teaching and Learning technologies (TLT)
o Approaches and methods (AM)
o Translation and English language teaching (TELT)
o Corpus linguistics and English language teaching (CELT)
o ESP teaching and learning (ESP)
o Teaching English to young learners (TYL)
o Materials design and production (MD)
o ELT management (ELTM)
o Learner autonomy (LA)
o Testing, evaluation and assessment (TEA)
o Second language acquisition and learning (SLA)
o Critical ELT (CRELT)
o Any other topic which could be of interest in the field of English language teaching and learning (OTH)

The deadline for speakers' proposals is Friday 15th May 2008.
