Language Technology Boot Camp
April 10-13
Pomona College

INTRODUCTION
While language faculty receive good training and support, language assistants or language residents often have little to no teaching experience and may have varied institutional and educational backgrounds. They are often not familiar with common methodological approaches or the advantages of technology in language learning. This grant-funded project, the Language Technology Boot Camp, will further develop the language-assistant training that began at Pomona College in 2005. At this conference participants will develop a high quality, self-contained training program. It will be selective, open-source and adaptable for various settings.

PARTICIPATION
Participants will be asked to contribute to this project before, during, and after this conference. Contributions may take various forms: short articles, syllabi, instructional video or multimedia files, editing of the yearly manual, etc.

GRANT
A grant covers the participants’ expenses for the conference, including flights, hotel, and food.

APPLICATION
Participants must be from a National Institute for Technology and Liberal Education member institution. The application deadline is January 5, 2008.

More information and existing training materials are available at http://bootcamp.pomona.edu .
