| Title | Department of Education Invites Comments on Framework for English Language Proficiency Standards |
| Body | From http://www.ncela.gwu.edu/newsline/archives/2007/11/the_department.html The Department of Education invites comments on its draft Framework for High-Quality English Language Proficiency Standards and Assessments. The purpose of the Framework is to provide States with information on suggested elements, possible considerations, and resources in order to help States evaluate and improve the quality of their current ELP standards and assessments. Reviewers are invited to comment on/make recommendations related to: * The appropriateness and clarity of each suggested element; * The comprehensiveness, coherence, and relationships among the suggested elements as a set; and * The clarity and utility of the possible considerations related to each suggested element. * Any comments, suggestions for improvement of the document as a tool for States to evaluation and improve their State ELP standards and assessments. The Framework can be downloaded from the LEP Partnership Initiative Web site at http://www.ed.gov/about/inits/ed/lep-partnership/index.html . Comments should be sent by December 15, 2007 to LEP.Partnership@ed.gov . |
