Body | University of South Florida College of Education Associate/Full Professor in SECOND LANGUAGE Education The Second Language Acquisition and Instructional Technology (SLA/IT) Ph.D. program is a unique interdisciplinary degree offered through both the College of Education and the College of Arts and Sciences. Responsibilities: Teach graduate level courses in the field of second language acquisition (SLA) and conduct research in the field of SLA; actively participate in the leadership of the Ph.D. program in Second Language Acquisition and Instructional Technology (SLAIT); teach foreign language/ESOL education courses and/or courses in the World Languages Department; engage in the professional affairs of organizations appropriate to the field; advise students; network with schools and districts; participate in program management, and governance in the department, college, and university. A courtesy appointment in the World Languages Department may also be possible. Qualifications: Required-- * Earned doctorate in second language acquisition, foreign language education, or closely related field; * university record commensurate with appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level according to USF's standards (http://files.acad.usf.edu/facprogdev/5464.pdf ); * experience teaching in the area of second language studies; * excellent communication skills in English; * proficiency in at least one foreign language; * established record of research activity which indicates systematic inquiry and scholarship related to education; * documented success in college-level teaching. Preferred-- * Experience in attracting external funding; * experience in program administration; service on doctoral dissertation committees; * demonstrated expertise with contemporary instructional technologies * experience with distance learning; * interest in interdisciplinary teaching innovations with other subject areas; * evidence of collaborative abilities; * involvement in the affairs of appropriate professional organizations; * community involvement and successful foreign language teaching experience in K-12 settings.
