Title | Idea for Adult ESL: Creating a Resume |
Body | One idea that interests educated and non-educated adults- preparing a resume, in English. Those who already have one in Spanish can learn how to write a "summary of personal abilities" such as- detail oriented, team player, self starter, etc. or whatever fits their experience and abilities. (You will probably just have to give examples of these adjectives as their are not always translations). You can give them a vocab list (see www.monster.com for ideas). Then, a list of dates and jobs held is not that hard- but bring in some adults from the business community to help when you do this. You can develop the idea of a job search with role playing interviews, etc. For listening, you can dictate cover letters, thank you notes for interviews, etc. Albers, M. Re: novice/TEFL novice.
