An AATG listserv user notes,

“Vocabulary lists in DaF textbooks for levels A1, A2 and B1 published by Cornelsen, Hueber and, I suspect, other German textbook publishers are based on the Goethe Institut's vocabulary list for the ZDaF (Zertifikat Deutsch als Fremdsprache).”
