A total of $250,000 per fiscal year is available to fund five projects up to $50,000 per fiscal year each for Minnesota school districts interested in either expanding existing or adding new foreign language programming. Applications selected for award will develop and implement a sustainable high-quality model world language program. The commissioner must award three grants to kindergarten through grade 8 sites, one grant to a qualified site interested in developing or enhancing a sustainable Mandarin Chinese program, and one grant to an indigenous American Indian world languages program.

Deadline for submission of application materials: August 24, 2007.
