By Patrice Relerford June 26, 2007 Whether they're in the cities, suburbs or out-state Minnesota, state Education Commissioner Alice Seagren said the majority of the state's charter schools focus on core academic themes. She said many schools also offer something extra in terms of cultural competency or foreign language courses. But she said these types of charter schools, which overwhelming attract minorities, could work against desegregation efforts in suburban school districts.
