Compiled by the organization's Task Force for Languages and Multilingualism, the compendium includes detailed information about the following objectives: *promotion of multilingual education, including the mother language; *safeguarding endangered and indigenous languages; *promotion of multilingualism and linguistic diversity in literate environments, media, and cyberspace; *promotion of languages as a means for dialogue and international integration; and *improvement of UNESCO effectiveness through integration of linguistic factors.
