TitleIdeas for Activities with Short Stories
Body
An FLTEACH user gives the following ideas for activities to do after reading a simple version of a children’s story:

1. Photocopy story. Cut into strips. Hand out to students. Have them line up in the order of the story. (Reading, sequencing).
2. Same as above, but have students illustrate their section. Then using the illustration (but not the handout/strip) present their illustration (explain using simple sentence - Este es Pinocchio. Es un chico....Este es Jiminey Cricket. Es el amigo de Pinocchio.).
3. Have them read the story and circle adjectives.
4. Teach them to say LIAR or That's a lie in Spanish, Danger, Don't do it.... As you read the story, have them call out each time Pinocchio tells a lie or does something dangerous/scary/wrong...
5. Write out the story with blanks. Give a word bank. Have them fill in the blanks with the appropriate word as you read the story. (Variation on a CLOZE).
6. Back to the strips (sections of the story). Hand out a section. Have student act it out. Other students identify which section. (Variation of charades.)
