TitleArabic Director Search: Middlebury-Monterey Language Academy
Body
The Middlebury-Monterey Language Academy (MMLA) seeks a Director of its Arabic School to begin at three sites in the summer of 2008. A Director may be hired for each of the three program sites for 2008, or may administer more than one site.

MMLA offers a one-month foreign language immersion experience for middle and high school students, in a summer-camp setting. We combine the fun of summer camp with the opportunity to study with skilled faculty and staff, so that students are immersed in the Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, French or Spanish language.

The Director oversees all academic functions of the School, and directs the implementation of the School curriculum and its cultural programs. With the assistance of MMLA staff, the Director hires the School's faculty, helps recruit students, administers the School's budget, supervises students' progress during the session and provides advice and support. As part of the contract, the Director attends one meeting during the winter.

Applicants for this position should have native or near-native fluency in the language; direct teaching experience with middle and/or high school students; curriculum development or language program management experience is preferred as is summer camp experience. Evidence of leadership among peers, ability to relate well to students and the capacity to adapt quickly to changing situations is required.

Interested candidates should apply directly by visiting the Middlebury College employment website www.middlebury.edu and click on "job seekers.”
