| Body | DUAL IMMERSION K-5 PRINCIPAL The Boulder Valley school system is committed to providing a challenging educational experience for all its students. The district serves a diverse community that demands educational excellence. The communities of Boulder, Louisville, Lafayette, Superior, Broomfield, Nederland, Ward, Jamestown and Gold Hill cover approximately 500 square miles and serve an estimated 205,500 residents, with an enrollment of over 26,500. The University of Colorado and many nationally known companies are located within its boundaries. Many year-round recreational activities are available in the Boulder area. BVSD is seeking an experienced educational leader for a dual immersion K-5 school in Boulder, Colorado. The leader is expected to build the capacity to cooperatively develop a rich learning environment, which results in a positive school climate, high academic expectations and respect for cultural differences. The successful candi- date will have demonstrated success in fostering students' enthusiasm for learning, multicultural sensitivity and an appreciation for the value of bilingualism and biliteracy. The dual immersion K-5 school follows a dual language model (English/Spanish) which combines research and best practice for all students, while facilitating the learning of a second language for both language groups. The District is accredited by the Colorado Department of Education. RESPONSIBILITIES Provide collaborative leadership in the following areas: . Alignment with the District Strategic Plan . Educational choices for students and parents . Internal and external communication . Curriculum development and instructional improvement . Ongoing assessment of school progress and student achievement . Supervision and evaluation of personnel . School climate development . Embedded professional development . Appreciation for ethnic and cultural plurality and diversity . Use of current research, materials and technologies REQUIRED SKILLS . Strong written and verbal communication skills . Strong planning, organization, motivation, management and evaluation skills . Ability to work respectfully with diverse groups in the community . Demonstrated skills in facilitation, problem solving and conflict management QUALIFICATIONS . Colorado Principal License . Experience in teaching, supervision and educational leadership . Building-level administrative experience or its equivalent . Must be bilingual and have knowledge of dual immersion bilingual education .
