Developing instructional Media for Web Interface Technology (July 9 - July 13, 2007)
University of California San Diego

This summer institute is designed for language teachers who want to develop interactive digital content and make it accessible to learners online.

Discussions will include:

* Teaching and learning potential of web interactive technology
* Application of tools and techniques to different learning environments
* New and emerging educational technologies for language learning

Demonstrations will include:

* Digital media capture, design, archiving and accessibility
* BlackBoard and Moodle Course Management Systems
* Creating and downloading PodCasts
* Social networking software

Hands-on Development will include:

* Producing audio/video digital media for the Internet
* Converting/transferring your content to online databases and mobile devices
* Accessing and subscribing to language Blogs and PodCasts
* Producing a language Blog and Podcast
* Submitting content to LARC’s Digital Media Archive (DMA)
* Creating a SCORM package to transfer your content to BlackBoard or Moodle
* Integrating your content and making it accessible to your learners online

Final Presentations will include:

* Presenting your target audience needs and instructional design specifications
* Discussing how you can use such tools and templates in your classes
