| Body | From http://linguistlist.org/issues/18/18-1182.html The National Foreign Language Center seeks two Faculty Research Assistants or Associates (title to be determined according to credentials): one with a specialization in Arabic and the other with a specialization in Chinese to provide expertise in the teaching of these languages in a K-12 setting and/or in the training of teachers for these languages for its STARTALK sponsored research project. Required: MA in Chinese, Arabic, or a discipline related to K-16 education, or language teaching; or MA in another field with equivalent experience and training as a teacher of Chinese or Arabic. High level of oral and written proficiency in Chinese or Arabic. Demonstrated understanding of best practices in language teaching and in underlying principles of teaching and learning, particularly language learning highly desirable: demonstrated effectiveness as a teacher in US K-12 settings.
