| Body | Teaching Spanish to Heritage Speakers Conducted in Spanish by Anna Uhl Chamot, Ph.D. June 25 - 26 (to 1:00) Cost: $120/ Early: (before 5/1): $100 Secondary school Hispanic students with little schooling in their native countries may be fluent in oral communication skills in Spanish, but have difficulty not only in reading and writing, but also in grammar and in academic and literary vocabulary. A Spanish literacy curriculum developed for high school Hispanic students will be applied to teaching literacy concepts, skills, and learning strategies for reading comprehension and writing in Spanish.
