| Title | NAEP Releases New Web Report on Arts Assessment |
| Body | From: NCES has just released, Developing an Arts Assessment: Some Selected Strategies, a new report from the National Assessment of Educational Progress. This web-only publication that can be found at: http://nces.ed.gov/nationsreportcard/pubs/strategies/ presents lessons learned from the 1997 NAEP arts assessment. The report describes six strategies for creating an effective arts assessment, drawing on arts tasks at all three grade levels in dance, music, theater, and the visual arts. Please note that copies are still available of an earlier report, the NAEP 1997 Arts CD-ROM (NCES 1999-485), a multimedia publication that contains the full text of the NAEP 1997 Arts Report Card, plus numerous examples of eighth-graders' work, along with explanations of scoring and other additional information.
