Description/Responsibilities:

1. Facilitate the recommendation of the ELD study team and coordinate the continued meeting of this group (i.e. home language survey, exit criteria, student profile portfolios, etc.
2. Devise and implement a well planned awareness and orientation program for all staff, parents, community and students
3. Help create an ELD program that is consistent throughout the district, but still allows for each building to create a program that uses its unique strengths
4. Advise building and district administrators as needed on issues
concerning the ELD program
5. Facilitate the revision of the Lau Plan and blend it with the District Strategic Plan and the CDIP
6. Assist in oversight and monitoring of federal grants and programs that support the ELD program
7. Determine which assessments will be used district wide, and for what purposes. Identify and implement a tracking system to assure compliance with state standards and NCLB
8. Assist in the planning of staff development that focuses on equity and diversity K-12. This should be included in all School Improvement Plans and monitored and evaluated regularly
9. Design a purposeful mentoring/monitoring procedure that will assist
mainstreamed ELL students who will be monitored in their initial transition years according to NCLB
10. Assist the Upper Elementary and Secondary schools to define their
program services, capacity, and instructional emphasis

Qualifications:

1. Oregon Teaching License
2 Extensive knowledge in the development and implementation of a dual
language program
3. Successful experience teaching in a dual language program
4. Ability to work cooperatively with district and school staff and parents
5. Bilingual/Biliterate English/Spanish preferred
6. Ability to manage multiple projects
7. Master's Degree and ESOL Endorsement preferred

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Starting Date: As soon as possible Salary: Per Contract
Hours per Day: 8 Days per Year: 200
