The University of Mary Washington invites applications for a 12-month non-tenure track full-time faculty position in the Master of Education program in teaching English as a second language to begin August 16, 2007. The position is a continuing appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor for candidates with a doctorate in applied linguistics or a related field by the time of appointment, or at the rank of Instructor for candidates who are ABD.

Responsibilities include teaching introductory and advanced graduate courses in second and foreign language teaching methods and cross-cultural education, graduate student advising, public school outreach involving travel within the region, and supervising graduate research. Additional teaching areas might include sociolinguistics, second language acquisition, English linguistics, linguistic foundations of literacy, educational research methods, and a variety of courses related to teaching English as a second language. We especially seek applicants with skills and experience in any of the following areas: foreign language instruction, online instruction, teacher licensure, grant development, program administration, and teaching nontraditional students.
