Title | Western Initiative for Language Leadership |
Body | From http://casls.uoregon.edu/will.php WILL is a chance for novice world language teachers in the Western United States to become better teachers and leaders. The two-year program focuses on the unique challenges faced by new teachers in rural areas. WILL, a joint initiative sponsored by the Center for Applied Second Language Studies and the Pacific Northwest Council for Languages, is currently seeking candidates for 2007-09. WILL builds upon teachers’ pedagogical and leadership skills. WILL teachers will participate in two summer institutes in Portland, Oregon; the first will focus on action research and the second will focus on leadership. In action teaching, teachers prepare and carry out projects in their classroom throughout the year, making changes to their methods as they see what works. Participants remain connected to each other, their mentors (comprised of former WILL participants), national experts, and CASLS staff. Application deadline: February 16, 2007.
