TitleCall for Papers: ACTFL-AATG 2007: Austrian Movies in the Classroom
Body
Abstracts of 300 words are invited for a proposed AATG 2007 session, Austrian Movies in the Classroom: Showcase for Culture and Issues (subtitle will be formed from topics submitted) for the ACTFL conference 2007 in San Antonio, with an emphasis on "bridging.”

Austrian recent and current movies have demonstrated a new quality of opening up the horizon of the Austrian movie public to new questions and problems linked to neighboring European Union-nations in a way that transcends political slogans and assessments. They have made Austria into a new link between East and West, North and South, particularly also to the Slavic world and beyond. Film makes these new territories visible and language brings the new aspects, problems and realities into the conscience of Austria. The German language is a cultural bridge in Austria that traditionally has been a multicultural area, embracing multiple ethnic and cultural areas, and what better forum than the American classroom to present the variety now evident in the exciting Austrian movie productions. All aspects welcome.

Please, kindly add your personal information about affiliation, addresses, fax/phone, e-mail to facilitate submission.
Deadline for submissions to mlcaputomayr@hotmail.com until 12/12/06 Papers intended for publication by ACSAL
