Title | New Report on LEP Academic Achievement |
Body | The U.S. Department of Education has released final regulations for Limited English Proficient (LEP) students, while the Department's What Works Clearinghouse has released a report on interventions designed to improve the academic achievement of LEP elementary school students. The new Title I Regulations are intended to help recently arrived LEP students learn English and other subjects while giving states and local school districts greater flexibility on assessment while still maintaining accountability under No Child Left Behind. The Department of Education's What Works Clearinghouse has released seven new reports, including a review of interventions designed to increase the academic achievement of LEP elementary students: http://www.whatworks.ed.gov/Topic.asp?tid=10&ReturnPage=default.asp.
