Title | Call for Papers: Québec at the Dawn of the New Millenium |
Body | From http://www.forl.unt.edu/quebec.htm Québec at the Dawn of the New Millenium: Between Tradition and Modernity International Colloquium Hosted by the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures University of North Texas March 2-3, 2007 Nearly fifty years have passed since the Quiet Revolution and, within this short period, Québec has experienced rapid transformations in all areas. This interdisciplinary colloquium will enable its participants to reflect upon the changes which have affected Québec society in the recent past: its identity, the modifications brought about by the Charter of the French Language, its economy in relation with the rest of Canada and the world (especially the United States), political evolution, social issues, education, cultural production and practices. Possible topics for papers (this list is not exhaustive): politics, the economy, status of the French language, cultural identity, social groups, education, family and the couple, women, religion, the media, cultural production (literature, cinema, art, music, songs, etc.), relations with the rest of Canada, and international relations, especially with the United States.
