Although two-thirds of the students come from English-speaking homes, most families sending their children to the Unidos Dual Language Charter School are excited about the new school's bilingual format. Families of Hispanic descent would like their children to continue to learn Spanish formally, and many non-Spanish-speaking families see the school as part of a trend which will help the U.S. change its mostly-monolingual image.
