Title | More Help for the First Days of Class |
Body | Here are a few more ideas to help you and your students set the pace for learning this year. ---- I greet them at the door, introduce myself (using cognates in target language)... We start learning phonetics/alphabet, greetings.... I give them a learning styles assessment; we do an icebreaker, watch a bit of video.... Blaz, D. Re: First Days of School. Foreign Language Teaching Forum listserv. FLTEACH@LISTSERV.BUFFALO.EDU (15 Aug. 2006). ---- Make a Scavenger Hunt/Search of your textbook to familiarize the students with the book. Jones, S. Re: First Days of School. Foreign Language Teaching Forum listserv. FLTEACH@LISTSERV.BUFFALO.EDU (16 Aug. 2006). ---- I have the students pick partners and get to know others in the class by making "dates" with each other...using a clock, they go around the room setting up dates for later on throughout the year...then on a given day, I will say, "today we are working with our 10:00 partner" .this way, they don't always work with the same person, or only their friends. This year, I am trying the same concept w/ countries of South America/Caribe.....this way, students also (hopefully) will learn all the countries in C. America while we're at it (or at least know that Spain is not there!!!) Giuliano, J. Re: First Days of School. Foreign Language Teaching Forum listserv. FLTEACH@LISTSERV.BUFFALO.EDU (15 Aug. 2006). |
