16th Japanese/Korean Linguistics Conference
October 7-9, 2006
Kyoto University, Japan

I am delighted to invite you to the 16th Japanese / Korean Linguistics Conference to be held in Kyoto, the ancient capital of Japan.

The aim of the conference is to bring together researchers working in the field of Japanese and Korean linguistics, in order to provide new insights into these two languages, which exhibit a profound typological affinity. The conference will also be a place where both well-established and young scholars, as well as students of Japanese and Korean linguistics, can interact and exchange research results and ideas.

Presentations at this year's conference include such varied areas as phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, discourse analysis, historical linguistics, sociolinguistics, and psycholinguistics

The 16th JK conference has been made possible with generous support from the Kyoto University Foundation and the Graduate School of Letters, Kyoto University.

On behalf of the organizers, I extend this invitation to all of you and look forward to seeing you here in Kyoto in October.

Yukinori Takubo
The 16th JK Conference, Chair
