Dene Languages Conference
Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, 13-15 June, 2006

The Dene Languages Conference will be held at the Explorer Hotel in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada, June 13-15, 2006. The co-sponsors are Yamózha Kúé Society (Dene Cultural Institute) and the Department of Linguistics, University of Victoria.

Invited speakers:
- S. Neyooxet Greymorning (Arapaho; University of Montana)
- Shirley Fontaine (Ojibway; Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs)

Request for Proposals/Call for Papers

The Organizing Committee is now requesting proposals for presentations at the conference. We are looking for presentations on any topic relating to Dene (Athabaskan) languages, including language teaching and learning, language documentation, language and culture, community programs, linguistics, language revitalization, and curriculum development.

Presenters will be assigned 30 minutes or 60 minutes for their talks. Please prepare presentations of 20 minutes or 45 minutes, plus 10 or 15 minutes for discussion. If you would like a longer presentation time, please contact the Program Coordinator.

The theme for the conference will be Land and Language. Proposals that speak to this theme are encouraged, but we do not want to limit proposals to this theme only.

The deadline for proposals is Monday May 01, 2006.
