The theme of this year's conference is "Tradition and R)evolution." Keynote speakers will be: Professor Jane Law, Cornell University, Religious Studies, and Professor Peter Gries, University of Colorado at Boulder, Political Science. This conference is specifically for graduate students and would be perfect for a graduate student giving a paper for the first time or a seasoned conference goer. We welcome paper proposals from any discipline related to East Asia (East Asia study, Asia study, history, religious study, linguistics, literature, political science, geography, journalism media arts, etc.) Please send proposals/abstracts not exceeding 300 words to cueaga@yahoo.com by September 1, 2003. If you have further comments or questions concerning the conference or would like more information, please write to the CUEGA Conference Committee at the same email address (cueaga@yahoo.com). Please forward this email to graduate students interested in East Asia whom also may be interested in participating in our conference. Thank you very much.
