Our Kindergarten finalist just backed out due to spouse's transfer in work. We all know how important it is to build exemplary dual immersion programs for our state and our field. This school has every systemic and administrative support system in place. Now all we need is 2 teachers! Please help by forwarding the following message. Feel free to duplicate the attached flier. It's crucial that this opportunity for a community and district supported program move forward. Thanks for your help! Seeking Bilingual Certified Teacher Kindergarten & 1st Grade El Puente Elementary Milwaukie, Oregon North Clackamas School District is opening El Puente bilingual magnet school in September 2003. Our board of education has studied programs for ELL students over the last 4 years and is fully committed to supporting a K-6 dual immersion school. Using the 90:10 model, we'll begin with one Kinder and one first grade class, adding a grade each year. This is truly a dual immersion teacher's ideal scenario: * 100% of English speakers in Kinder have had pre-school Spanish immersion. * Parental choice includes transportation to ensure equitable access. * Planning grant helps pay for conferences, planning time and materials. * Principal is an experienced bilingual teacher & ESL administrator committed to advocacy and instructional leadership. * District office & administration is institutionally supportive & vested in the school's success. * Extended day Kindergarten with only 20 students!
