TitleIdeas for the Future
Body
A recent request on the FLTEACH listserv for ideas for teaching lessons on future tenses received the following suggestions.

----

I have had students write compositions about what they will be doing in five, twenty and fifty years. They enjoy this one. One of my students even added 100 years from now - very imaginative!!

Last year I had my English students do mock interviews in which the interviewer asked about what the other person would be doing in 5 years. Then each interviewer introduced the other to the class as the person he planned to be in 5 years.

To practice future tense, I had students create a collage of what they imagined their life would be like in ten years. They used pictures from magazines and included pictures of their house, car, career, leisure activities, future husband/wife (got alot of Halle Berry here), and other possessions and activities. I then redistributed the collages among the students and they had to write what the student's life will be like for the collage they received (third person). They then were told whose collage they had and they had to describe to that person how they had interpreted their collage (second person). Some students were very creative. Lots of fun, good practice both written and oral.
