TitleSpanish Subjunctive Activities
Body
I use various activities to practice the present subjunctive in my class:

* a scenario where three students are roommates and they decide which household chores each person volunteers to do or refuses to do.

* planning a trip: in groups of 3-4, students decide where they want to go, how they want to travel, who else will come along...

* Simon Says

* Agree/Disagree: faced with a series of statements (e.g., the Cubs will win the World Series), students have to agree or disagree using expressions of doubt, denial, etc.

I have used the song by Juan Luis Guerra, "Ojala que llueva cafe." I give the students the words with the subjunctive verbs taken out and they have to put the verbs in the subjunctive. Then we listen to the song and sing along or dance around the room and it also brings up a lot of good conversation about culture and why someone would write a song about it raining coffee. Here is a link where you can find the song (if you click on "Sobre la pagina" and then on "spanish grammar exercises" you will find many more ideas using songs and poetry)
