| Title | Gift Ideas for Parting Teachers |
| Body | A recent discussion on the AATG listserv of crafts that students can make for teachers who are leaving generated the following suggestions. These might be appropriate ideas for teachers taking maternity leave or for substitute or student teachers nearing the end of their assignments. ---- My daughter did some "assisting" at a local elementary school while working as an au pair near Stuttgart. When she came home, the class presented her with a scrapbook that has become a treasured memento of her time with the kids. Each student was responsible for a page; along with a photograph of the student, each included a letter/note/drawing/poem referencing a memory he/she had of a time/lesson/activity/etc. with my daughter. On one page, for instance, they pasted chewing gum wrappers (the colored part) and wrote "Throw out your gum" in French (which I used to always tell the kids)... things like that.
